Inside Each Lesson

Each lesson in MONEY EDU contains Words That Matter, an Instructional Video, 9Grid™, Connect Question, Knowledge Check, and DO Activity.

WORDS THAT MATTER

We start by telling you about the words that matter for each lesson.

Have you ever been learning something new and someone starts using a whole bunch of unfamiliar words and you can’t follow along because it feels like they’re speaking a different language?

MONEY feels that way to a lot of people. We want money to be ACCESSIBLE to everyone, and that starts with knowing the lingo, so we’ve included a few important words that might be unfamiliar to people who are new to learning about MONEY so that you know what to listen for throughout the videos.

INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO

Next up, we’ve got a video for each lesson that will help you break down the main concepts we want you to learn. Why videos? Because sometimes you need to hear things more than once when you’re learning something new, and videos give you the power to take your learning at your own pace.

In fact, we like to practice a concept called 4 times 4 ways, which means that we want you to see, hear, write, and take action on the content.

The videos in MONEY Edu are 6-18 minutes long. They teach through the power of story – We tell you stories about real people who applied the information to their own lives, so that you can get inspired to do the same.

9GRID™

After the video, we show you a 9Grid™ Qcard that breaks down everything you just learned from the lesson into a one pager. You will either download the 9Grid or use the workbook to fill in the prompts as you watch the video.

There is space at the bottom for additional notes. We encourage you to write down your personal take away from each lesson.

In most cases,  you will either show your educator that your 9Grid is completed or you will upload the completed 9Grid back into the portal for grading.

Remember – We want you to engage with the lessons in MONEY Edu 4x 4 ways, and the 9Grid Qcard is a great way to make that happen.

The 9Grids are designed to help you remember the MOST important concepts in each lesson. We encourage you to keep them with you and refer to them often, even after you graduate.

CONNECT QUESTION

Who here learns best when they can see how the content relates to your own life?  Inside each lesson, we’ve included a CONNECT question that’s meant to inspire you to reflect, or journal, or talk with someone you love about how the lesson applies to your life.

This is where you really start to put the concept into practice – That 4x 4 ways concept is still going strong in this step!

KNOWLEDGE CHECK

The knowledge checks in MONEY Edu are designed to help you LEARN, not feel like you’re being judged! They’re 8 questions with multiple choice or true/false answers that give you a safe space to make sure you feel really confident about the information you just learned.

And you have multiple attempts to get it right! We’re not judging you for how many attempts it takes! We just want to help make sure that when you get to those real-life test situations, you pass with flying colors.

DO ACTIVITY

Okay last but not least – We want to make sure that you take what you learn in each lesson and actually take action on it, so we’ve created a DO activity to go along with each lesson in MONEY EDU.

If you do ONE thing in the MONEY EDU program, it’s this.

If you were to take action on each of the DO activities, do you know what would happen? You would completely change your money story.
